What Does It Mean to Say "Jesus is Lord?"

Luke 6:46-49

1.  "Jesus is Lord" is a Corroborated Truth.
      a.  The scriptures announce the Lordship of Jesus.  John 5:39; Revelation 11:15; Philippians 2:9-11
      b.  Creation attests to the Lordship to Jesus.  John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16-17
      c.  The resurrection affirms the Lordship of Jesus.  Acts 2:32-36; Acts 5:29-31; Romans 14:9
      d.  The church ascribes Lordship to Jesus.  Ephesians 1:17-23; Colossians 1:18

2.  "Jesus is Lord" is a Confessed Truth.
      a.  We are to confess with our lips that "Jesus is Lord."  Romans 10:9-10
      b.  We are to confess with our lives that "Jesus is Lord."  2nd Corinthians 5:14-15

3.  "Jesus is Lord" is a Consuming Truth.
      a.  It is not some superficial statement to be tossed around like a jingle in a Christian commercial.
      b.  "Jesus is Lord" is truth that supersedes all else in my life.  Exodus 21:1-6

4.  "Jesus is Lord" is a Consequential Truth.
      a.  His will is supreme not subjective.
      b.  His Word is sovereign not suggestive.

The one who yields to the Lordship of Jesus and demonstrates it by obeying His word is blessed.

The one who rebels against the Lordship of Jesus, refusing to obey His word is cursed.
